Walpa Gorge is a desert refuge for plants and animals. Guarded from the hot desert sun, they can find relief in this area. Walpa means windy, so named for the refreshing winds that pass through the gorge.
The rocky track gently rises to a small track, passing rare plants and ending at a grove of spearwood trees. Depending on the weather, you may come across a small stream running through the landscape. Walk within the sheer walls and experience this amazing landscape.
Walpa Gorge is part of the Kata Tjuta area, a sacred men's site.
Allow at least an hour to complete the walk and make sure you take lots of drinking water, sturdy shoes, sunscreen and a hat.
To enter the park you’ll need a park pass, which you can pre-purchase online for quick and easy entry....
